For some companies, ordered quantities are not strictly enforced and such overages are accepted as a normal part of doing business. Depending on procedures, these overages may always be allowed, or they may only be allowable if they fall within a certain range.
SureShip™ allows companies to define that acceptable range in terms of a percentage of an ordered quantity, using the Overship % (Percent) Tolerance setting on the AIT Custom Parameters form. Setting a tolerance allows the system to automatically check if the total number of units to be picked or shipped against an order line is within limits, and prevent transactions that will result in unacceptably high overages.
This article describes how and when Overship Percent Tolerance is used to perform these checks.
The Overship Percent Tolerance is the percentage above an order line's original ordered quantity that is allowed to be picked or shipped against that line. The equation for calculating a line's allowable number of units that may be picked and/or shipped at any one time is:
(Qty Ordered) * (1 + (Overship Percent Tolerance))
The Overship Percent Tolerance is compared against Ship Percentages, the percentage of units currently shipped, picked, or allocated against an order line with respect to its original ordered quantity. The equation for calculating a line's Ship Percentage is:
(Qty Shipped) + (Qty Allocated to Pick Lists) + (Qty Allocated to BOLs) - (Qty Returned)
(Qty Ordered)
Ship Percentages are periodically compared against the Overship Percent Tolerance to verify that any picking and shipping overages within allowable limits. If the following equation is true, then the check is passed and the process can continue:
(Overship Percent Tolerance) ≥ 1 - (Ship Percentage)
If the Ship Percentage is too high, then the following error message appears and the process is stopped:
Checks are automatically performed when the following actions occur:
