Picking Overview

SureShip Picking

Pick Lists are documents that tell warehousing personnel which items and what quantities must be taken from stock to satisfy orders.

Companies use Pick Lists to streamline shipping procedures by queuing up picking work for orders. Instead of waiting until shipment staging to choose inventory from the warehouse, Pick Lists act as a signal to pull those units ahead of time and soft allocates them to an upcoming shipment.

If your company utilizes Pick Lists as part of its standard order fulfillment procedures, SureShip™ offers tools to replace and expand upon standard pick, pack, and ship functionality.

The section below describes the function of each of these tools at a high level.

Pick List Creation

The SureShip Pick Workbench and SureShip Order Pick Console are used to review the status of open order lines, including quantities to be picked vs. quantity available, and create Pick Lists against them. Quantities from specific stockroom locations, lots, serial numbers, and containers can be pre-defined, if applicable.

Pick List Staging

When converting a Pick List to a Bill of Lading (BOL), SureShip will automatically select units to be picked from available stockroom locations, lots, serial numbers, and containers. For companies that prefer to select units manually, the SureShip Pick Staging form may be optionally used to specify exact unit quantities picked. Refer to this article for additional information.

Pick List Review, Location Update & Reprint

The SureShip Pick Maintenance form can be used to quickly review or reprint existing Pick Lists. Under certain circumstances this form can be used to delete, remove lines from, and update the picking locations on Pick Lists. Refer to this article for additional information.

Pick List Merge & Quantity Update

The SureShip BOL Maintenance form can be used to make changes to existing BOLs / Pick Lists, or merge existing BOLs / Pick Lists. Refer to this article for additional information.

Over picking

Refer to this article for additional information about how SureShip™ controls over picking.
