Setting up kiosks (work stations)

Setting up kiosks (work stations)

Introduction

A kiosk is a computer work station (or a set of identically configured work stations) which will use the SureShip™ module to communicate with shipping carriers via API, receive weight inputs from scales, and/or print shipping labels.

This article describes how to set up kiosks.

SureShip Kiosks

The SureShip Kiosks form is used to create and configure kiosks, assign default users, and designate which non-API shipping labels may be printed from a kiosk. Each work station receives a unique system-assigned Kiosk ID number, though an optional Description may be set for easy identification.

Adding a new kiosk

  1. Click Create a new object in the current collection.
  • Select the appropriate Config ID for the shipper accounts to be accessed by the kiosk.
  • Select the default Carrier Label Printer (used to print API shipping labels) and Custom Label Printer (used to print non-API shipping labels) to be accessed by the kiosk.
  • Select the Scale ID to be accessed by the kiosk.

  1. Click Save.

The Kiosks Remaining field shows the remaining number of kiosk licenses still available for setup and will be recalculated on save. When this value reaches 0, additional licenses must be purchased in order to add new kiosks. Please contact your AIT Business Services account representative to request additional kiosk licenses.

Setting up a user's default kiosk

Each user can be assigned only one default kiosk, though multiple users may share the same default kiosk

  1. Navigate to the Users tab on the appropriate kiosk record. Click anywhere in the table and click Create a new object in the current collection.
  • Enter the appropriate User Name.

  1. Click Save.

Mapping non-API shipping labels against specific printers on a kiosk

  1. Navigate to the Label/Printer Map tab on the appropriate kiosk record. Click anywhere in the table and click Create a new object in the current collection.
  • Select the appropriate non-API shipping label Template.
  • Select the appropriate Printer ID for the label template.

  1. Click Save.
