Setting up label templates

Setting up label templates

Introduction

This article describes how to set up label templates in the SurePrint™ module and set them as defaults for specific Items and/or Customer Contracts.

SurePrint Label Templates

The SurePrint Label Templates form is used to setup and review the names, descriptions, and file paths of any label printer on your company network that SurePrint™ has access to. It is also used to designate the scope of each template.

To set up a label template:

  1. Click Create a new object in the current collection.
  2. Enter a unique Template Name.
  3. Enter a helpful template Description, if desired.
  4. Enter the path of the template's corresponding BarTender® label in the Filename field, including the appropriate file name and extension.
  5. Set the appropriate Ref Type to define the template's scope.
    • Global: The template will be usable with ERP records regardless of their associated customer or vendor.
    • Customer: The template will only be usable with a particular customer/ship-to. You will be required to select the appropriate Customer and Ship To.
    • Vendor: The template will only be usable with a particular vendor. You will be required to select the appropriate Vendor
  6. Click Save.

Items

In addition to new forms, the SurePrint™ module adds a new tab onto the Items form.

The SurePrint tab is used to specify the default template and number of duplicates to set printing labels for specific part numbers. This information is set in the Template Name and Copies columns respectively.

When label templates are defined at the Item level, the SurePrint Console will automatically apply them to any record referencing that item. However, defaults set at the Item level may be overriden by defaults set at the Customer Contract level, depending on parameter settings.

Customer Contracts

In addition to new forms, the SurePrint™ module adds a new table onto the Customer Contracts form.

The SurePrint table is used to specify the default template and number of duplicates to set printing labels for specific customer/part number combinations. This information is set in the Template Name and Copies columns respectively.

When label templates are defined at the Customer Contract level, the SurePrint Console will automatically apply them to any record where the referenced customer and item match that of that contract.

SurePrint Item/Customer Templates

The SurePrint Item/Customer Templates form is an alternative way to set default label templates and numbers of copies. Instead of navigating to specific item or customer contract records to update SurePrint™ data, this form allows all mappings to be viewed and/or bulk added/updated/deleted from a single grid.

Use the Template Name and Copies columns to specify default templates to set printing labels for specific part numbers or customer/part number combinations.

Set up mappings per part by entering an Item and leaving the Customer field blank.

Set mappings per customer/part combination by entering both an Item and Customer.
