Setting up non-API shipping labels

Setting up non-API shipping labels

Introduction

As part of your company's standard packing and shipping procedure, you may use SureShip™ to automatically generate shipping labels based on information received from API-enabled carriers. These labels are required to deliver goods and are generated according to each carrier's standard labeling format.

SureShip™ can also generate custom-designed non-API shipping labels, which may be required by other parties, but not necessarily shipping carriers. These are labels that your shipping team may be spending time manually creating or editing values for today.

This article describes how to set up non-API shipping label templates to print automatically as part of the packing and shipping procedure.

Non-API label functionality is only possible for customers running a compatible version of BarTender® software, and while the non-API label setting on the AIT Custom Parameters form is enabled.

Package Label Templates

The Package Label Templates form is used to specify template file paths for various labels generated by CloudSuite™ Industrial. A unique record must be set up for each non-API shipping label type that will be generated.

To set up a new non-API shipping label template:

  1. Click Create a new object in the current collection.
  • Enter a Template Name and, if necessary, a Description.
  • Enter the Filename for the corresponding Bartender® software label template.

Please contact your AIT Business Services technical resource for assistance with Bartender® label template creation and setup.

  • Select a Customer and Ship-To if the label type is specific to a customer ship-to address. Otherwise, leave these fields blank.
  • Select the corresponding SureShip Template Type.

To create a new SureShip Template Type, right click the field and click Details to be taken to the appropriate user defined type record. Add a new value using the standard process.

  1. Click Save.

When are non-API shipping labels generated?

Non-API shipping labels are generated from the SureShip Console before or after shipment finalization. Refer to this article for additional information.
