Setting up service, freight, and package information for API-enabled carriers
Introduction
Depending on the shipment, API data transfer may require certain service, freight, and/or packaging information to be set up in advance. If your ERP system and shipping carriers' electronic databases are thought of as speaking two different languages, these setups are the basis of translation that allows both computer systems to “understand” each other.
This article provides an overview of the service types, freight classes, and package types that are used to set up API-enabled carriers, and the form used to review that data at a high level.
SureShip Carrier Management
The SureShip Carrier Management form can be used to quickly review all service types, freight classes, and package types that have been setup for a shipping carrier. These entries are automatically added and updated based on whatever data is currently found on the forms listed below.
The buttons on the upper-right corner of the form are shortcuts to the following forms:
- SureShip Ship Via Mapping, which is used to setup standard carrier service types and map them to CloudSuite™ Industrial ship via codes.
- SureShip Carrier Service Types, which displays all shipping service types currently setup in SureShip™ for the selected carrier.
- SureShip Carrier Package Types, which is used to setup standard carrier package types and map them to CloudSuite™ Industrial package types.
- SureShip Freight Class, which displays all NMFC® classifications currently setup in SureShip™ for the selected carrier.
