Setting up service, freight, and package information for API-enabled carriers

Introduction

Depending on the shipment, API data transfer may require certain service, freight, and/or packaging information to be set up in advance. If your ERP system and shipping carriers' electronic databases are thought of as speaking two different languages, these setups are the basis of translation that allows both computer systems to “understand” each other.

This article provides an overview of the service types, freight classes, and package types that are used to set up API-enabled carriers, and the form used to review that data at a high level.
