FedEx REST API Key Generation

Initial Setup

Before using the FedEx app, you should: 
  1. Create a FedEx merchant account to receive an account number.
            For more information, see the official FedEx documentation:
            Open an Account 
            Create a fedex.com User ID
      
      2. Create a project.
      3. Generate the API key and the Secret key for your project.

Create a Project

Step 1: Log in to the FedEx Developer Portal with your account credentials

If you do not have an account yet, click Sign up to get access to FedEx APIs by creating a user ID. 


Step 2: In the left-hand navigation, click My Projects.  

If you do not have any projects yet, click Create API project.


If you select Create API project, you will see a prompt that asks about your API needs. Select the following option:
  1. Ships with FedEx and needs to integrate FedEx APIs into their system


Step 3:  Select Ship, Rate & other APIs.

Step 4: Select all APIs by clicking all check boxes EXCEPT Consolidation API . Click Next.


Step 5: Enter the specifics of the project. Give your project an identifiable name that is unique to your company. An example project name 
would be, "Customer SureShip Project." Select a Country/Territory. Click Next.



Step 6: Review the project details and accept the terms and conditions. Click Create.

Once you click Create, you will see a confirmation screen. Then you can generate the API key and Secret key within your new project.

Generate API Keys

Step 1: In the left-hand navigation, click My Projects.
Step 2: Click on the project name to open.
Step 3: On the Test Key tab, select the Account number. Click Next.

Copy the test API key, Secret key, account number for the FedEx Test configuration in the SureShip Application. If your company will be using FedEx LTL shipping, copy the FedEx Freight LTL account numbers and address information from the bottom of the form. 


Step 4: Select the Production Key tab and copy the API key and Secret key. Copy them for the FedEx Production configuration in the SureShip Carrier Connection Configurations form.
