FedEx REST API Checklist

Introduction


Start by compiling the five main documents necessary for the transition from FedEx SOAP to FedEx REST. Those documents are the following:
  1. FedEx REST API Keys
  2. UCS Carrier API Setup and Configuration 
  3. FedEx REST API Configuration in SureShip
  4. FedEx Label Certification Process Letter
  5. FedEx WIS Label Cover Letter

FedEx REST API Keys


Refer to FedEx REST API Key Generation for detailed instructions on this process:
  1. Follow the steps for Initial Setup
  2. Follow the steps to Create a Project
  3. Follow the steps to Generate API Keys - Focus on TEST keys

UCS Carrier API Setup and Configuration

  1. Add the FedEx Carrier Code
  2. Populate your Default Data 
  3. Specify changes on the API Calls tab
  4. Specify any additional changes needed on the Attributes tab
  5. Specify any shipping option defaults on the Shipping Options tab
  6. Ensure the Freight and Adjustable Dims check boxes are selected
  7. Ensure the new record you created for the new Carrier has been saved

FedEx REST API Configuration in SureShip - TEST


Refer to FedEx REST API Configuration in SureShip for detailed instructions on this process:
  1. Follow the steps for the Test Environment for Parcel
  2. Specify all information for the Attributes tab
  3. Specify all information for the Address tab
  4. Specify all information for the API Call tab
  5. Check the Note, are you shipping LTL in Test? Follow those instructions

FedEx REST API Configuration in SureShip - PRODUCTION


  1. Follow the steps for the Production Environment for Parcel
  2. Specify all information for the Attributes tab
  3. Specify all information for the Address tab
  4. Specify all information for the API Calls tab
  5. Check that you have updated all Test URLs with Production URLs on the API Calls tab
  6. Check the Note, are you shipping LTL in Production? Follow those instructions

FedEx Label Certification Process Letter


  1. Check the Note, Bar Code Analysis group requires a 3-day turnaround time
  2. Review all the best practices listed in the document
  3. Check the Note, if your labels are scanned and have visible defects, physical ones will be requested
  4. The Bar Code Analysis group will evaluate the submitted labels. They will contact you regarding the approval or rejection status 

FedEx WIS Label Cover Letter

  1. Read the customer instructions in Section 1
  2. Specify your information in EVERY field on the document in Section 2
  3. Review the label submission address provided
  4. Note that the four labels you need to provide are:
    1. FedEx Ground Single Package
    2. FedEx Ground Multi Package
    3. FedEx Express (Next day or 2day)
    4. FedEx International 
NotesNote: For SureShip Cloud customers, you must use the FedEx Label Certification form to automatically generate Test labels.
