BOL Merging and Maintenance

BOL Merging and Maintenance

Introduction

In some cases the original contents of a Pick List or Bill of Lading (BOL) may need to be added to, modified, or deleted.

This article describes two forms that can be used to make adjustments to existing Pick Lists and BOLs without undoing and recreating them.

SureShip BOL Merge

The SureShip BOL Merge form can be used to merge two BOLs that: a) are open, b) are intended for the same customer ship-to address, and c) utilize the same ship via code.

Merging BOLs

In the instructions below, the “receiving shipment” is defined as the BOL that will keep its original contents and receive new contents during the merge. The “donor shipment” is the BOL that gives away its contents – its BOL number will be deleted on successful merge

  1. Enter the BOL number for the receiving Shipment.

  1. The search table below will be updated to display BOL numbers for all potential donor shipments. Enable the Select checkbox for the appropriate donor shipment.

  1. Click Process.

  1. A confirmation message will appear on successful merge. Click OK.

SureShip BOL Maintenance

The SureShip BOL Maintenance form used for a wider variety of functions. It can be used to change quantities on an existing Pick List/BOL, delete units from an existing Pick List/BOL, or merge Pick Lists/BOLs that: a) are open and b) are intended for the same customer ship-to address.

Changing quantities or deleting quantities on a Pick List / BOL

Only unpackaged units can be removed from a Pick List/BOL. If increasing quantities on a BOL, the quantity of units to be added cannot exceed the total quantity required for the order line.

  1. Select a Packing Slip/BOL or Pick List ID number for the shipment.

Narrow down results on a BOL with units from multiple Pick Lists by specifying both a BOL and Pick List.

  1. Perform the following on each row to be changed or deleted from the record, then click Process:
  • Select the appropriate Action on the row to be modified.
  • For quantity changes only, enter the New Qty for the row to be modified.
  • Enable the Select checkbox.

  1. A confirmation message will appear on successful quantity change or deletion. Click OK to close.

If the quantity change or deletion cannot be processed, the Operation Result Msg column will display a message describing the reason for failure.

Merging Pick Lists / BOLs

It is possible to merge a Pick List into another Pick List, a Pick List into a BOL, and a BOL into another BOL. If merging a BOL into another BOL, both shipments must utilize the same ship via code.

In the instructions below, the “receiving shipment” is defined as the Pick List/BOL that will keep its original contents and receive new contents during the merge. The “donor shipment” is the Pick List/BOL that gives away its contents – its Pick List/BOL number will be deleted on successful merge.

  1. Enter the Packing Slip/BOL or Pick List Id number for the receiving shipment at the top of the form.

  1. Enter the Packing Slip/BOL or Pick List Id number for the donor shipment at the bottom of the form, then click Add.

  1. A confirmation message will appear on successful merge. Click OK.
