Setting up freight forwarders, third parties, and brokers

Setting up freight forwarders, third parties, and brokers

Introduction

Some shipments involve parties other than the shipper (your company) and receiver (your customer’s company). When specified on an order this information can be included on select shipping reports, or communicated to a shipping carrier during API data transfer.

This article describes how to set up non-customer shipping parties.

Currently, only FedEx® international service types receive broker information as part of API data transfer.

SureShip Shipping Parties

The SureShip Shipping Parties form is used to set up information for freight forwarders, third parties, and brokers. Each party receives a unique system-assigned Party Num (number) for identification.

To add a new shipping party:

  1. Click Create a new object in the current collection.
  • Select the appropriate Party Type – freight forwarder, third party, or broker.
  • Select a Customer number and Ship To address number to automatically populate the contact and tax information below. Otherwise, skip these two fields and manually enter the appropriate data.
  • Select the appropriate INCO Delivery Terms for the shipping party.
  • For brokers only, select whether the Broker Type is "IMPORT" or "EXPORT" and their Broker Account number, if applicable.
  1. Click Save.
